Student Progress

We are a small secondary academy which provides intensive emotional and educational support to children who are either at risk of permanent exclusion or have been excluded permanently from mainstream education.

In the first instance, students are placed at Ashwell for a 6 week assessment period which is used to diagnose the key barriers to learning. The placement is also used to support students in their development of communication, number and social skills which we believe will aid self esteem and assist with reintegration back into mainstream education.

We aim to provide students with a curriculum that is not only engaging, enriching and empowering but gives students a platform for success by following programmes of study which are nationally accredited through the National Open College Network.

At Ashwell we are continually encouraging our students to focus on Literacy to help them make progress. Our students have weekly spelling tests in every subject area as part of their extended learning.
